When Do “They Let the Bears Out”?

Bears are wild animals and roam freely in our National Park and surrounding areas. They are not “let out” like a zoo. Your best chances to see black bear in their natural habitat would be to drive though Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail or Cades Cove at Dawn or Dusk between April and November as this is when they are most active.

The Summer (June-August) means heat, humidity, and rain showers. Highs can reach 90s with lows averaging in the 70s. In the Fall (September – Mid-November) expect warm days with cool nights.
